Agartala, 23rd  November 2025: Dr. K. Sasi Kumar, IFS, Secretary of the Tribal Welfare Department, conducted a series of field visits to review the ongoing progress of the Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP). Yesterday, he visited the Farmers Field School of the “Unnayan” Producer Group at Gainama VC under Manu Block, Dhalai district. This visit followed his earlier inspections at Lefunga Block on 20th November and Mungiakami Block on 21st November, reflecting the project’s growing momentum under continuous field-level supervision.

The visit highlighted that TRESP is significantly enhancing technology transfer, agricultural productivity, and income generation across tribal areas. Progressive farmer Manika Sarkar showcased successful Bottle Gourd cultivation during the Rabi season under TRESP interventions. The same PG had earned over Rs 10 lakhs from Brinjal cultivation in Kharif 2025, after taking a loan of Rs 1.46 lakhs of which Rs 1.03 lakhs has already been repaid. This stands as a strong testimony to TRESP’s effectiveness.

At the PG office, the Secretary interacted with members on seasonal planning, income strategies, market linkages, and the overall impact of TRESP on their livelihoods. During the subsequent field visit, he assessed crop health, use of improved technologies, and future expansion prospects. He expressed satisfaction with the quality of implementation and acknowledged the dedication of frontline staff, including Krishi Sakhi Bulti Baishya.

The Secretary also appreciated the efficient monitoring and coordination by the Block Project Management Units (BPMUs) and District Project Management Unit (DPMU), which are playing a crucial role in strengthening TRESP’s field performance.

Dr. Sasi Kumar expressed confidence that TRESP’s Farmers Field School model will continue to serve as a powerful platform for grassroots technology dissemination and will be replicated across many more farmers’ fields in the state.
