Security Personnel Protest Outside Tripura Cricket Association Over Unpaid Dues

BY TC News Desk

Agartala, 25th August 2025:  A group of private security guards staged a protest outside the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) headquarters on Monday, demanding immediate payment of long-pending dues. The protest comes amid mounting allegations of financial irregularities and mismanagement within the self-governing sports body.

According to representatives of STSF, the security agency contracted by TCA, 15 of its personnel have not received salaries for the past three months. The total outstanding amount owed to the agency stands at 13,13,707 as of May 2025. Despite repeated written appeals, the association has allegedly failed to respond, prompting the guards to take their grievances to the streets.

“We’ve been working without pay for months. Our families are suffering, and the Association hasn’t even acknowledged our letters,” said one of the protesting guards, requesting anonymity.

The protest adds fuel to long-standing accusations of corruption and money laundering against the Tripura Cricket Association. Critics claim that the lack of government oversight has enabled a series of financial scams, ranging from inflated infrastructure costs—such as floodlight installations—to questionable expenditures.

Notably, the Association reportedly spent 46 lakh recently on prize distribution, a move that has drawn sharp criticism in light of its failure to pay frontline workers. The contrast between lavish spending and unpaid wages has sparked public outrage, with many questioning the priorities and transparency of the organization.
