Agartala, 16th April 2025: The Shishu Bihar Alumni Association continued its longstanding tradition by celebrating the first day of the Bengali New Year with the children of Jawaharlal Nehru Girls’ Home in Nabagram, Kanthalatoli. As part of this celebration, the association members distributed food items and other essentials to the 56 children residing at the girls’ home, aiming to bring joy and happiness to their New Year festivities.
Speaking about the event, Dr. Abhijit Sarkar, Vice President of the association along with Advisory Committee Member Souvik Bardhan Roy inspired and encouraged the children. Abhijit Samajpati, Secretary of the association, offered assurance to the home’s staff, stating, “Shishu Bihar Alumni Association will provide full support for the education of all the girls at this home.”
Other members in attendance included Joint Secretary A. Bhattacharya, Assistant Secretary Nilanjan Sharma, Accountant Joyjit Acharya, Dr. Sayan Sarkar and Debanjan Das. The resident children expressed their gratitude by showcasing their talents through music performances and presenting handcrafted items to the visitors.
During discussions, challenges faced by the children in their education were highlighted. Members of the Alumni Association pledged to offer comprehensive support in overcoming these obstacles.
This initiative is a testament to the association’s consistent commitment to social and mutual responsibility. Reflecting on their efforts, Secretary Abhijit Samajpati noted, “The annual general meeting of the Shishu Bihar Alumni Association is set to take place at Shishu Bihar Higher Secondary School on April 18, where the new committee will be formed.”
