Statewide Career Guidance Initiative Gains Momentum

BY TC News Desk

Agartala, 26th November 2025: A state-level initiative to provide structured career guidance to girl students is currently being implemented in government secondary and higher secondary schools across Tripura. The programme, which covers more than 980 schools, is intended to support students in planning their educational and career pathways more systematically.

The Directorate of Skill Development, Government of Tripura, is the nodal department for the initiative. It is funded by Samagra Shiksha, Tripura, and implemented by the Institute for Career Advancement, a reputed EdTech organization in Tripura, providing Training and Technology enabled Learning Solutions.

Earlier this year, the programme was formally launched by the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, and since then it has moved into an active implementation phase in schools across multiple districts.

The programme is specifically designed for girl students studying at the secondary and higher secondary levels in government schools. According to feedback from schools, the sessions outline career pathways and courses available after school, with focus on new age and alternative career options, competitive examinations, and scholarship information to pursue higher studies and motivation. Students are encouraged to raise questions and seek clarification on academic options, application processes and eligibility conditions. School staffs have indicated that many students find the sessions useful and engaging.

Reports indicate that the programme is being swiftly implemented in a well co-ordinated way across the length and breadth of the state. The Institute for Career Advancement, which is the implementing agency, has a well proven track record.  It has successfully completed around 40 Government and PSU-funded projects and worked with more than ten government organisations and public sector undertakings. It is an industry cum implementation partner of a recognised Sector Skill Council in India and a Tripura Govt. recognized start-up. It has been involved with work related to technology based learning solutions, coaching and training – including competitive exams preparation and faculty development, career guidance and mental health, manpower resources and software development.

Officials and educators familiar with the initiative view it as an important step in introducing systematic career guidance within government schools, particularly for girl students who may have limited access to such support outside the formal school system. Some have noted that the initiative should be gender neutral and should also include the boys. They further noted that although this is a positive initiative by the Government, the continuity and consistency of the Government’s efforts are yet to be demonstrated.
