Agartala, 31st July 2025: Demanding urgent infrastructural upgrades for a local school, students and parents staged a protest on Thursday morning by blocking the Dashda–Kanchanpur Road, leading to major traffic disruption in the area.
The demonstration focused on the poor condition of Satnala Residency English Medium School, which reportedly houses over 100 students but employs only three teachers. Protesters highlighted the school’s dilapidated infrastructure broken doors, windows and gate with no proper classroom amenities or even benches for seating. Despite repeated appeals to school authorities and local representatives, no action has been taken to improve conditions.
Frustrated by government inaction, the demonstrators vowed to continue the road blockade until authorities provide concrete assurances for infrastructural development. The blockade caused severe delays for daily commuters and stranded vehicles on both sides of the highway.
