Agartala, 10th November 2025: A wave of student protest erupted today at Shyamsing Higher Secondary School in Sabroom, where students locked the school gate and blocked entry of teachers and staff, demanding immediate appointment of Science and Political Science teachers.
The agitation began early in the morning as students arrived at the school and padlocked the main entrance, effectively halting academic activities. Protesters alleged that the prolonged absence of subject teachers has severely disrupted their studies, despite repeated appeals to the administration.
“We’ve been suffering academically for months. There’s no Science or Political Science teacher, and our future is at stake. We won’t unlock the gate or call off the protest until we receive a written assurance of teacher appointments,” said one of the protesting students.
Local administrative officials rushed to the scene and engaged in dialogue with the students. After receiving verbal assurances regarding the recruitment of subject teachers, the students agreed to withdraw the blockade.
