Agartala, 18th April 2025: Tensions escalated yesterday after allegations surfaced about regular drug parties in the Veluarchar area under Kalamchaura police station.
Local sources claimed that Ripon Mia, a resident of the area had been hosting these gatherings at his residence. Despite repeated objections from the locality, the situation persisted, prompting frustrated locals to surround Ripon’s house and alert the authorities.
Acting swiftly, Kalamchaura police and TSR personnel deployed a large force to the site. A thorough search of Ripon’s home led to the recovery of drugs concealed in a rice pot. The angered mob vandalized the property before police intervened to prevent the young man from being assaulted.
Ripon Mia was subsequently arrested and taken into custody. To ease the heightened tensions, police forces remain stationed in the area. Locals expressed hope that such proactive measures would strengthen the anti-drug sentiment within the community.
Meanwhile, authorities confirmed an ongoing investigation into possible accomplices, assuring that legal action would be pursued against Ripon Mia.
