Agartala, December 20, 2023:  In a brazen act of theft, a notorious gang targeted the revered Sri Sri Hari Temple in the heart of Dharmanagar late on Tuesday night, leaving the religious community and residents shocked.

The criminals, displaying audacious precision, broke into the sacred premises, stealing two silver bangles and a golden flute from the temple’s idol, along with pilfering the contents of the donation box. Amar Chakraborty, the temple’s priest, made the startling discovery when he found his house door locked from the outside around 7 am. Upon investigating, he observed the aftermath of the theft and promptly notified the police. The North District Superintendent of Police, Bhanupada Chakraborty, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Debashish Saha, and a team of officers swiftly arrived at the scene to commence the investigation.

The thieves, displaying a high level of sophistication, disabled the temple’s CCTV system by cutting its cable before executing the theft. The authorities have expressed their determination to apprehend the culprits by scrutinizing the available CCTV footage.

“This incident is disheartening news for the residents of Dharmanagar,” commented the District Police Superintendent, highlighting the gravity of the situation. The stolen items, including the silver bangles, golden flute, and funds from the donation box, hold significant cultural and religious value. The community now awaits justice, hopeful that the thieves will be swiftly identified and brought to account.
