Agartala, 12th August 2025: Three youths were booked by local residents near the petrol pump adjacent to Charilam Bazaar in Bishalgarh. The trio was found in possession of a container of brown sugar and various stolen items.
Locals informed that the youths were detained and handed over to Bishalgarh police after receiving a physical reprimand from the crowd. Locals allege that the individuals are habitual offenders, frequently engaging in theft and other antisocial activities to fund their drug addiction.
Residents of the area have expressed growing concern over the escalating nuisance caused by such drug-dependent groups, who reportedly steal household items and valuables with alarming regularity. Today’s citizen-led intervention was prompted by mounting frustration and fear among the community.
Police have taken custody of the three accused and launched an investigation into the matter. Authorities are expected to examine the extent of their involvement in recent thefts and the source of the narcotics.
