Agartala, 27th February 2026: The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee has announced a statewide agitation beginning March 2, alleging nepotism, corruption, and administrative failure under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in Tripura.
Addressing a press conference today, PCC spokesperson Prabir Chakraborty said the movement is aimed at demanding a corruption-free and transparent administration in the state. As part of the first phase of the protest, party leaders and supporters will submit deputations to Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) across the state.
On March 2, the Congress will stage a deputation at the Agartala Municipal Corporation, alleging corruption within the civic body.
He alleged that since 2018, there have been widespread irregularities across various government departments, including in budget allocations, centrally sponsored schemes, and projects funded by agencies such as the NITI Aayog, the World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank.
The PCC leader claimed that reports by government audits, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), and social audit findings have frequently highlighted alleged misappropriation of public funds amounting to crores of rupees.
According to the party, in most cases, there has been no official clarification or visible action taken against those responsible. Even where inquiries were announced, Congress leaders alleged that they were merely symbolic and yielded negligible results.
The party further alleged that financial mismanagement and administrative inefficiency have adversely affected key sectors such as agriculture, education, healthcare, tribal welfare, and rural development. They claimed that allocated funds in several welfare-related departments have reportedly remained unutilized and were returned, while irregularities have at times led to salary disruptions in important departments, including health and education.
The Congress stated that its agitation will continue until concrete steps are taken to ensure accountability and transparency in governance.
