Agartala, 6th November 2024:   In a recent crackdown, the traffic department launched an intensive operation to curb illegal parking and keep the Agartala streets free from traffic congestion.

This action follows a surge in complaints regarding vehicles parked haphazardly across the capital, causing persistent jams.Today’s raid took place in the busy Battala market area, where traffic officials noted widespread illegal parking of cars, motorbikes, scooters, and other vehicles.

According to Traffic SP Manik Das, this operation targets unregulated parking practices that have been hampering city movement and contributing to frequent jams in several parts of Agartala.

“People are parking vehicles wherever they want, and the situation is worsening traffic conditions across the city,” said SP Das during the raid.

He also addressed a growing issue in Battala market, where traders have reportedly been occupying sections of the street to run their shops. “These unauthorized setups on traffic roads have been creating bottlenecks and slowing down daily commutes in this busy market,” he added.

SP Das emphasized that strict actions will be taken to prevent illegal occupation of public spaces by vendors, which has not only affected traffic flow but also poses potential safety risks. In addition to today’s raid, he announced that these operations would continue, aiming to ensure clear roads and reduce the risk of accidents in congested areas. The department urged citizens to cooperate with authorities and adhere to designated parking areas to avoid penalties.
