Agartala, 19th February 2025: In a concerted effort to tackle the persistent traffic congestion in the city, the Tripura Traffic Police, in collaboration with the Agartala Municipal Corporation, have launched a crackdown on illegal parking from Kaman Chowmuhani to Maharajganj Bazar.
Speaking on the initiative, Traffic Police Superintendent Manik Das stated that a significant number of vehicles are illegally parked on both sides of the road leading up to Maharajganj Bazar, resulting in frequent traffic jams. Despite repeated awareness drives by the traffic police, many vehicle owners continue to flout parking regulations, leading to severe disruptions in the smooth movement of traffic.
“From now on, we will take strict legal action against those who violate traffic rules. This campaign will continue in the coming days to ensure an uninterrupted flow of traffic and ease the movement of the common people,” said Superintendent Das. He further urged citizens to abide by the traffic laws and cooperate with the authorities in maintaining order on the roads.
During the campaign, several illegally parked vehicles were fined, while some were removed from the roadside to clear the congestion. Officials expressed optimism that this initiative will significantly improve the traffic situation in the city.
The authorities have assured that similar drives will be conducted regularly to deter illegal parking and enhance road discipline.
