Agartala, 28th August 2024: The Tripura Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has set its sights on becoming the leading party in the Northeast in terms of membership. Announcing this ambitious goal, State BJP President Rajib Bhattacharya stated that the party is gearing up for a major push during the upcoming national membership campaign.
In preparation for the drive, the Tripura BJP hosted a one-day workshop at Muktdhara Auditorium in Agartala, which was attended by prominent leaders, including All India National General Secretary Dushyant Kumar Gautam, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, BJP State President Rajib Bhattacharya, and BJP Sangathan Mahamantri Ravindra Raju.
On social media platform X, Chief Minister Dr. Saha expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming Membership Campaign-2024, which is slated to begin on September 2. “Participated in a one-day workshop organized by the Pradesh BJP to ensure the success of the country-wide Membership Campaign-2024,” he posted, adding that the initiative aims to strengthen the party at the grassroots level.
State BJP President Bhattacharya noted that the party had set a significant membership goal for Tripura, intending to surpass previous records. “Currently, we have over 6 lakh BJP members in Tripura. This year, we are targeting even more as we prepare to launch the membership drive on September 1, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said. He emphasized that the party’s aim is to position Tripura at the forefront of the Northeast region in terms of membership numbers.
The workshop was just the beginning of the effort, with plans to extend the initiative to district and Morcha levels in the coming weeks. “We are confident that our organizational strength will help us achieve this milestone,” Bhattacharya added. Later in the day, Dr. Saha welcomed All India General Secretary Dushyant Kumar Gautam to his official residence, where the two discussed key issues, including the recent flood situation in the state and the party’s organizational matters.
The membership drive is expected to energize the BJP’s base in Tripura and further solidify its presence in the Northeast.
