Agartala, 24th November 2025:  Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today emphasized the state government’s commitment to ensuring that the benefits of development projects reach every citizen, especially those in rural areas.

Speaking at an event at Pragya Bhavan in Agartala, Dr. Saha inaugurated several initiatives under the Rural Development Department, including the Chief Minister Gram Sampak Yojana, Chief Minister Tripura Gram Samriddhi Yojana 2.0, Mega Griha Pravesh, and distributed awards recognizing exceptional work by districts and blocks. Achievement booklets highlighting government initiatives were also released.

“One of our main objectives is to serve the common man and ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach the last person in society,” said Dr. Saha. “The Rural Development Department plays a key role in implementing both central and state schemes, as well as externally aided programs. Their work spans employment generation, sanitation, infrastructure, women’s socio-economic development, and capacity building.”

The Chief Minister pointed out that Tripura has received seven national-level Panchayat Awards, with prize money totaling around Rs 10 crore, reflecting the state’s dedication to rural governance.

Dr. Saha also acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts in providing housing to citizens and said, “Our government is committed to securing not only the homes but also the social status and future of people living in rural hills.” He highlighted that 75% of Tripura’s population resides in rural areas, stressing that greater focus is needed on rural development.

Notable officials present at the event included Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Rural Development Secretary Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary Kuntal Das, and Panchayat Department Director Prasun De.
