Agartala, 14th February 2026: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha expressed hope on Saturday that the recently concluded elections in Bangladesh and the formation of a new government would pave the way for stronger bilateral ties with India and contribute to the development of a “new Bangladesh.”
Commenting on the election results, Dr. Saha called it “encouraging news for everyone,” highlighting the significance of a democratically elected administration taking charge in Bangladesh.
He extended his congratulations to the incoming Prime Minister and emphasized the importance of continued warm and cooperative relations between the two countries. “Tripura occupies a unique position in this context, as three sides of our state share a border with Bangladesh. Our histories, cultures, and traditions are closely linked. Over the years, India and Bangladesh have enjoyed a strong and friendly relationship,” he said.
Dr. Saha also expressed optimism that the new government would further enhance collaboration between the nations. “The Partition separated many families, with loved ones ending up on opposite sides of the border. I am confident that with the new government in place, India-Bangladesh relations will be strengthened, marking a fresh chapter of friendship and partnership,” he added.
