Agartala, 5th October 2024:   In response to the alarming rise in HIV/AIDS cases across the North East region, the Tripura Commission for Protection of Child Rights organized a one-day workshop at Pragya Bhavan here on Saturday. The event was graced by the presence of TCPCR Chairperson Jayanti Debbarma, who highlighted the urgency of the situation.

“The incidence of HIV is increasing at an alarming rate in Tripura. The national Child Protection Commission is deeply concerned and has emphasized the need for heightened precautions among boys and girls to curb the transmission,” Debbarma stated.

The workshop followed a crucial meeting held on August 06, saw participation from district education officers, ASHA workers, and officials from various departments. The discussions focused on strategies to enhance awareness and preventive measures among the youth.

“We are committed to taking this warning to the boys, girls, and their guardians in the coming days. Our goal is to make them more alert and informed about the risks and prevention of HIV/AIDS,” Debbarma said.

The workshop underscored the importance of community involvement and education in combating the spread of HIV/AIDS, aiming to foster a more informed and proactive approach to health and safety among the younger population.
