Agartala, 29th October 2025:    A six-year-old girl, Deepika Tripura, from Natimanu area under Chamanu block, has been given a new lease on life after successfully undergoing a complex congenital heart disease (CHD) surgery at Apollo Children’s Hospital, Chennai.

Since early childhood, Deepika had been suffering from breathing difficulties and frequent fatigue. On February 10, during a routine health screening conducted by the Chamanu Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) team at her school and locality, doctors detected an abnormality in her heartbeat. She was promptly referred for advanced medical evaluation.

Following the screening, the Dhalai District Health Department took swift action under the supervision of the District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC). To confirm the diagnosis, an echocardiography test was conducted on April 23 at ILS Hospital, which revealed that Deepika was suffering from a congenital heart defect requiring urgent surgery. All routine pre-operative blood tests were completed on July 8 at the DEIC unit of Dhalai District Hospital. The DEIC staff also ensured that the family received all necessary financial and administrative support for the treatment process.

Under the Tripura Government’s approved health scheme, arrangements were made to send Deepika to Chennai for advanced cardiac surgery. After the completion of all formalities, her operation was successfully performed on October 26 at Apollo Children’s Hospital under the supervision of expert pediatric cardiologists.

The surgery was a complete success, and Deepika is now recovering well. Her father, Paramjoy Tripura, expressed heartfelt gratitude:

“We will never forget the support we received from the Chamanu RBSK team and the District Health Department. Thanks to their timely help, our daughter is healthy again.”

This remarkable success story highlights the power of coordinated healthcare services and the impact of government health initiatives like RBSK, proving that even children in remote areas can access advanced medical care. The news was shared through an official press release from the Chief Medical Officer’s Office, Dhalai District.
