Agartala, 14th February 2026: Tribal Welfare minister Bikash Debbarma today has reiterated the government’s firm resolve to safeguard students in residential institutions across Tripura, stressing that safety, discipline and quality education remain top priorities.
The Minister visited the boys’ and girls’ hostels of Purnajoy CP High School at South Twisama under Dasda-Kanchanpur following a recent incident. During the visit, he reviewed the hostel’s security infrastructure, assessed the responsibilities of staff members on duty and examined how the residential students managed to leave the campus. He assured that the issue has been examined with utmost seriousness.
Appealing to parents, Debbarma advised caution in handing over mobile phones to minor children residing in hostels. He noted that unchecked phone usage can expose children to unknown contacts, potentially leading to fraud, exploitation or criminal traps. He emphasized that ensuring children’s safety requires active involvement from families and society alongside government efforts.
He further informed that the administration and police have initiated necessary action, and strict legal measures will be taken against those found involved. The government is also strengthening surveillance, supervision and overall security arrangements in all residential hostels to prevent such incidents in the future.
Reaffirming the state’s commitment, the Minister said the collective goal is to provide every child with a secure, healthy and fear-free educational environment through coordinated efforts of the government, authorities and guardians.
