Agartala, 23rd November 2025: A three-day workshop marking the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists, jointly organized by UNESCO, the Indian Journalists Union (IJU), and the Karnataka Union of Working Journalists at Bengaluru from November 11 to 13 last.
The workshop focused on critical issues including journalist safety, strengthening legal capacity, digital security, fact-checking, and gender-sensitive protection. Forty journalists from across India participated in the intensive training sessions, which also covered modern reporting modules, field reporting techniques, and professional skill development.
Tripura’s presence was highlighted by the participation of Sutapa Guha, the state’s only female representative at the event. Her involvement brought pride to the region, as she joined peers from across the country in engaging with international-level training.
Speaking about her experience, Guha said the sessions were highly practical and enriched her professional outlook. Expressing gratitude to UNESCO and IJU, she noted that the knowledge gained would play a vital role in enhancing the quality of her future work.
Her achievement has sparked widespread encouragement within Tripura’s journalistic community, highlighting the importance of global exposure and skill-building opportunities for young reporters.
