Tripura Police Crack Down on Drug Trafficking, Six Arrested with Narcotics Worth Rs 1.5 Crore

Agartala, 16th December 2025:   Tripura Police have recorded a major breakthrough in their ongoing anti-narcotics drive, seizing drugs worth approximately Rs 1.5 crore and arresting six persons within the past 24 hours.

The seizures in Dhalai followed another significant operation on December 15, during which police detained four individuals from Dharmanagar in North Tripura and Kumarghat in Unakoti district with narcotics valued at over Rs 4 crore.

According to Dhalai District Police, acting on specific intelligence inputs, Ambassa Police conducted two separate anti-drug operations late on December 15. In the first operation, a white Maruti WagonR was intercepted at the Upanagar naka on National Highway-08. During the search, police recovered 45 grams of suspected brown sugar (heroin) along with 20,000 YABA tablets.

In a second operation carried out near the Ambassa Fire Station, police seized 24 grams of suspected brown sugar (heroin) that had been concealed inside soap cases.

Police officials confirmed that six individuals were arrested in connection with the seizures. The total estimated market value of the recovered narcotics is around ₹1.5 crore.

Separate cases have been registered at Ambassa Police Station under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the drugs and identify the wider network involved. Dhalai District Police reiterated their firm resolve to intensify efforts against drug trafficking in the state.
