Agartala, 25th February 2026: In a transformative move to strengthen its innovation ecosystem and formalize entrepreneurship across the state, the Government of Tripura has unveiled T-NEST — the state’s flagship incubation and innovation hub — at the International Trade Centre in Agartala.
The initiative will be formally inaugurated by Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh, alongside Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and Information Technology Minister Pranajit Singha Roy. With this launch, T-NEST is poised to serve as the operational backbone of Startup Tripura and the State Innovation Mission.
Conceived as a comprehensive single-window platform, T-NEST aims to seamlessly connect entrepreneurs with mentors, investors, academic institutions, and government departments. By fostering collaboration across sectors, the hub is designed to transform innovative ideas into scalable and impactful enterprises. The initiative marks a decisive shift in the state’s development strategy — moving beyond digital enablement toward a dynamic model of digital enterprise, where innovation becomes deeply embedded within governance and economic growth.
The platform places special focus on priority sectors aligned with Tripura’s inherent strengths and future aspirations. These include agri-technology and allied industries, bamboo and forest-based enterprises, tourism innovation, health technology, digital public services, and rural enterprise solutions — areas that hold immense potential for inclusive and sustainable development.
A standout feature of the T-NEST ecosystem is its “Government-as-First-Customer” model. Under this forward-thinking framework, government departments will present real-world challenges as problem statements, enabling startups to pilot and validate their solutions within public systems. This approach not only accelerates innovation and market readiness but also ensures that emerging technologies generate meaningful public value by directly enhancing governance.
The inauguration ceremony reflected the vibrancy of Tripura’s growing startup landscape. A dynamic Start-Up Exhibition featured 25 promising ventures showcasing cutting-edge products and solutions across diverse sectors. Adding to the excitement, eight technical and higher educational institutions displayed 18 student-led innovations, underscoring the seamless progression from academic research to entrepreneurial enterprise.
A major highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with T-Hub, one of India’s leading innovation ecosystems. This strategic collaboration will open avenues for knowledge exchange, mentorship, capacity building, market access, and joint innovation programs — significantly strengthening Tripura’s entrepreneurial framework.
Looking ahead, T-NEST’s influence will be reinforced by the proposed state-of-the-art Modern Incubation and Innovation Park at Chandmari, along with the envisioned Tripura IT & Data Economic Zone (TIDEZ). Together, these initiatives signal a bold new chapter in Tripura’s journey toward becoming a thriving hub of structured innovation and digital enterprise.
