Agartala, 20th August 2025:    In view of the upcoming Teachers’ Day celebration, the Tripura TET Teachers’ Welfare Association submitted a deputation to the Chief Minister today, outlining a series of long-standing demands aimed at improving the working conditions and dignity of educators across the state.

The Tripura TET Teachers’ Welfare Association presented a series of demands to the Chief Minister, beginning with a strong appeal to revoke the five-year fixed pay policy. They described the policy as discriminatory and unlike any other state’s approach to teacher compensation, arguing that it undermines the dignity of the profession and must be abolished immediately.

The delegation also emphasized the urgent need to fill a large number of vacant teaching and headmaster posts, stating that adequate staffing is critical to maintaining educational standards across the state.

Another key issue raised was the overdue payment of Dearness Allowance (DA), with the association calling for its regular disbursement as a matter of financial justice for educators.

In addition, the association urged the government to implement the 8th Pay Commission without delay, aligning Tripura with other states to ensure fair and competitive compensation.

They further demanded the abolition of the New Pension Scheme (NPS) and the reinstatement of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), citing concerns over long-term financial security for teachers.

Lastly, the delegation proposed replacing the Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) scheme with the Assured Career Progression (ACP) system, which they believe would offer more equitable career advancement opportunities.

To further elaborate on these issues, the association has scheduled a press conference at the Agartala Press Club on Saturday, August 23 at 4 PM. Leaders are expected to address the media and public on the broader implications of their demands for Tripura’s educational and socio-economic development.
