Agartala, 6th December 2025: The Tripura government is gearing up to launch construction of a state-of-the-art eco-tourism, adventure tourism, and water park at Sachindranagar Colony under the Jirania subdivision in West Tripura. Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury confirmed the development on Monday, calling it a significant step toward boosting the state’s tourism landscape.
Chowdhury said the upcoming project—planned on the model of Kolkata’s renowned Nicco Park—will not only enhance Tripura’s tourism appeal but also create extensive employment opportunities for local youth. He reiterated that tourism remains a central component of the government’s mission to build a self-reliant and rapidly developing Tripura.
Highlighting its broader impact, the minister stated that the park is expected to place Tripura more prominently on the global tourism map, attracting greater footfall from both domestic and international visitors.
To fast-track the initiative, the minister visited the proposed project site earlier in the day, accompanied by Tourism Department Secretary Uttam Kumar Chakma, Director Prashant Badal Negi, social worker Ranjit Roy Chowdhury, and several public representatives from the Jirania area. The team reviewed the land and discussed crucial preparatory measures required for the smooth commencement of construction.
Describing the field inspection as a key milestone, Chowdhury expressed confidence that the park, once completed, would become a major tourist attraction and a catalyst for economic growth in the region.
