Two arrested in Melarmath theft case, stolen items recovered

Agartala, 17th June 2025:  West Agartala police have apprehended two suspects in connection with a recent burglary at a shop in Melarmath here, recovering stolen laptops and cash. The arrests are expected to provide key leads on an organized gang operating in the area.

Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Debaprasad Roy informed that a group of thieves broke into a shop on the night of July 11, making away with a laptop and cash.

Following a formal complaint lodged by the shop owner, police launched an intensive investigation, carrying out raids at multiple locations.

Officers detained two individuals yesterday who later confessed to the crime during interrogation. Authorities recovered the stolen laptop and Rs 3,500 in cash from their possession.

The accused identified as Amit Deb and Sajal Debnath were presented in court today with police seeking remand for further questioning.
