Agartala, 18th February 2026: Uber bike riders in Agartala have announced an indefinite suspension of services starting Wednesday, demanding the complete withdrawal of the “Bike Saver” service.
More than 200 Uber bikers gathered near Heritage Park in Agartala on Wednesday to stage a protest and voice their grievances. Speaking to the media, the protesters raised several concerns regarding declining earnings and lack of support from the company.
According to the riders, road conditions across the city have deteriorated significantly due to ongoing Smart City project work. Despite operating under challenging circumstances, they claim they have continued to provide regular services. However, they allege that they have received no necessary support or cooperation from the Uber office located at Banamalipur on BK Road.
The primary issue highlighted by the bikers is the introduction of the “Bike Saver” service. They claim that since its launch, their income has dropped substantially. The reduced fare structure under the service has reportedly dealt a major blow to their earnings. The riders stated that although they have repeatedly brought the matter to the attention of company authorities, no effective steps have been taken.
Additionally, the protesters alleged that Uber drivers in Tripura receive significantly lower remuneration compared to those in neighboring states. With rising fuel prices, vehicle maintenance costs, and other operational expenses, they say they are facing increasing financial pressure.
The agitating bikers have made it clear that they will continue their indefinite strike until the “Bike Saver” service is completely withdrawn.
