Agartala, 18th November 2025 : The district-level Unity March was held in Unakoti today to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The march began at 7 a.m. from the Unakoti Kalakshetra premises, organized jointly by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, My Bharat Kendra, and the Unakoti district administration.
The programme was inaugurated by Tripura’s Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports, Social Welfare & Social Education, and Labour, Tinku Roy. Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee attended as chief guest, while Unakoti District Magistrate Tamal Majumder (IAS), District Council Chairman Amalendu Das, and Kailashahar Municipal Council Chairperson Chapala Debroy were present as special guests.
The march, aimed at promoting unity, national integration, and the ideals of Sardar Patel, saw wide participation from students, youth organizations, and social groups across the district.
Speaking at the event, Minister Tinku Roy said, “As part of the nationwide Unity March commemorating Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary, we have organized this district-level march in Unakoti. Its core message is to build a self-reliant India, a society free from addiction, and a secure, united nation.”
He reminded participants of Patel’s pivotal role in integrating India after independence, stressing the importance of passing on his vision to the younger generation. The minister expressed gratitude to schools, volunteers, and youth groups for their active involvement, and noted that the presence of MP Rajib Bhattacharjee added pride to the occasion.
Roy further announced that similar marches are being held across Tripura districts, culminating on November 24 with a state-level march from the Gandhi statue in Agartala to Ushabazar. Representatives from each district will later join the All-India Unity March, walking nearly 100 kilometers to Sardar Patel’s birthplace to pay homage at his statue. Thousands of youths from across the country are expected to participate.
Concluding his address, the minister reiterated the slogan: “Build a self-reliant India, a transparent India, and an addiction-free India. That is the mission of this march.”
