Agartala, 17th May 2024:  In a shocking act of vandalism, a family-owned Maximo car was set ablaze and reduced to ashes around 3 am on Thursday night. The vehicle bearing the registration number TR01M-0624 was parked in the vicinity of the Mahamaya Club under Belonia police station.

The owner identified as Tuton Dey reported that the car was primarily used for ferrying students to various schools, including those attending the Belonia English Medium School.

The blaze was first noticed by a neighbour who promptly alerted Dey’s family. Despite the immediate call to the Belonia Fire Department, the fire was successfully extinguished through the collective efforts of neighbors and family members before the arrival of the fire service personnel.

The family has stated that the fire did not originate from a mechanical issue but appears to have been deliberately set as an act of revenge. The incident has left the family without their sole means of income, causing significant financial distress.

The Belonia police have taken cognizance of the matter, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the motives behind this deliberate act of arson.
