Agartala, 10th February 2026 : On the occasion of the formulation of the Viksit Bharat–G RAM G Act 2025, a landmark public representatives’ conference and inauguration of rural development projects will be held tomorrow at Swami Vivekananda Maidan at 11:30 am. The event will be inaugurated by Union Minister for Rural Development, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan, with Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha attending as the chief guest.
Announcing the program at a press conference today, Panchayat Minister Kishore Barman said the Union Minister will virtually lay the foundation stone and inaugurate 179 projects under the Rural Development Department and Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission, with a total investment of Rs 546.79 crore. Beneficiaries of various schemes will also be felicitated during the ceremony.
The gathering will see the participation of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs, state cabinet members, MLAs, and representatives from three-tier panchayats. Panchayat Minister Kishore Barman will preside over the event.
Highlighting the significance of the new law, Barman described tomorrow as a “historic day” for Tripura. He said the Viksit Bharat–G RAM G Act 2025 is designed to accelerate socio-economic progress in rural areas and aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of building a developed India by 2047.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has made provisions in the Union Budget to uplift 25 crore people from below the poverty line through this Act. The law introduces 125 days of guaranteed rural work, expanding upon the earlier MGNREGA scheme, which provided 100 days of employment.
The Act emphasizes transparency and accountability, with Gram Sabhas now responsible for allocating work instead of panchayats. Permanent assets such as Anganwadi centers, Panchayat roads, drinking water facilities, and livelihood mission infrastructure will be created and monitored online to curb corruption.
“This law will not only build a new Tripura but also contribute to the vision of a developed India,” Barman said, urging public support. Senior officials including Abhishek Singh, Secretary of the Rural Development Department, and Kuntal Das, Additional Secretary, also addressed the press conference.
