Agartala, 2nd March 2026: A brutal late-night altercation in Manikbhandar market under Kamalpur subdivision has raised serious concerns over public safety and social order.
According to eyewitnesses, a heated argument broke out between meat trader Biplab Deb and vegetable vendor Subhash Das over a minor dispute. The quarrel quickly escalated, and in a shocking turn of events, Das allegedly struck Deb on the head with a weighing machine used in the market.
The forceful blow left Deb unconscious and bleeding heavily at the scene. Fire service personnel rushed to the spot, rescued the injured trader, and immediately shifted him to Kamalpur hospital. Despite urgent medical attention, his condition deteriorated due to severe head injuries. Doctors later referred him to Kulai District Hospital for advanced treatment, where he remains under intensive care.
Family members of the injured trader have stated that they will file a case against the accused. Meanwhile, the incident has sparked outrage among local residents, who fear for the safety of daily market-goers after such a violent episode in a public place.
