Agartala, 31st August 2024:   Two Bangladeshi nationals were arrested in the City Centre area of Agartala city on Friday evening, according to Officer-in-Charge Paritosh Das of the West Agartala Police Station. The individuals, identified as Rafiq Sheikh and Azim Uddin, were apprehended after authorities found they had illegally entered Tripura through Sonamura in the Sepahijala district.

“We received information about their illegal presence after interrogating another Bangladeshi national, Suman from Narayanganj, a couple of days ago,” stated OC Das, highlighting the ongoing efforts to monitor and control illegal immigration in the region.

During the arrest, two mobile phones and various documents were recovered from Sheikh and Uddin, which the police believe might provide further insights into their activities and connections. Both men were reportedly working at a construction site in Agartala city when they were detained.

Both of them have been produced in the court on Saturday seeking police remand.
