Agartala, 12th March 2026: A serious allegation has triggered widespread concern after a 36-year-old tribal woman lodged a complaint at the Kailashahar Women’s Police Station, accusing a known acquaintance of blackmail and harassment.
According to the written complaint, the accused identified as Pradip Debbarma of Rajkandi Para, Kumarghat allegedly lured the woman to a secluded location, assaulted her, and secretly recorded intimate videos without her knowledge. The victim claims that Debbarma later threatened to release the footage on social media, using it to blackmail her over an extended period.
The complaint further states that on March 8, Debbarma, accompanied by an associate, forcibly entered the woman’s home. They allegedly made her consume a spiked drink, leaving her unconscious, and recorded additional videos. The victim also reported that her mobile phone was taken during the incident.
Following these events, the woman filed a formal FIR at the Kailashahar Women’s Police Station. Authorities have confirmed that an investigation has been launched based on the allegations.
This case has sparked local outrage, highlighting growing concerns over privacy violations, exploitation, and the misuse of digital platforms for intimidation.
