Agartala, 3rd December 2025: The Khowai District Social Welfare & Social Education Department, in collaboration with the District Youth Affairs & Sports Department, organized the district-level observance of World Disability Day 2025 at the Khowai Zilla Parishad premises this noon.
The programme was inaugurated by Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipatu Aparna Singh Roy, with District Social Welfare Officer Sujit Das as convenor. Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Tinku Bhattacharya, social worker Animesh Nag, District Magistrate Rajat Panth, Assistant DM & Collector Abhedananda Baidya, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nirmal Kumar, BDO Aniruddha Das, and ALIMCO Guwahati Regional Manager Prakash Singh were present. The event was presided over by Disability Cell Secretary Diptendu Biswas and conducted by social worker Saur Pratim Sharma.
The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by speeches from officials and dignitaries. In the second session, assistive devices including hearing aids, wheelchairs, tricycles, and blind sticks were distributed among persons with disabilities. A total of 641 items were handed over to 216 beneficiaries. Meritorious students of the Tripura Board’s secondary examinations were also felicitated.
Sports events under the banner Khelo Tripura Para Games saw enthusiastic participation, including a 50-metre race where winners received prizes. The event drew a large audience, with active involvement from district officials, public representatives, and community members, marking the programme a resounding success.
