Agartala, 5th April 2025: Acting on a confidential tip-off, Tripura Police of West Agartala Police Station arrested a youth with a significant quantity of Yaba tablets from the Battala Bazar area on Thursday night.
The accused, identified as Mangal Deep Biswas, was found in possession of 2000 Yaba tablets, estimated to be worth over Rs 2.5 lakh in the black market.Addressing the media, SDPO Debaprasad Roy said that the accused had previously served a jail term in 2023 under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. “He has now been arrested again on charges of drug trafficking,” said the officer.Police sources confirmed that Mangal Deep Biswas will be produced before the court on Friday, and a remand application will be submitted to facilitate further interrogation.
The arrest marks a significant success for the city police in their ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking. Authorities said that necessary legal procedures are being followed and a thorough investigation is underway.
