YVK, NABARD celebrated ‘Birsa Munda Jayanti’ at Madhav Bari ADC Village, West Tripura

Agartala, 11th November 2025:  To mark the 150th Birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, Yuva Vikash Kendra (YVK), in collaboration with NABARD Tripura Regional Office, organized a special program at Madhav Bari ADC Village, West Tripura. The event aimed to celebrate the life and contribution of the great tribal leader and to further empower tribal farmers through sustainable livelihood initiatives.

As part of the celebration, an Orientation Meet on NABARD’s Integrated Farming System (IFS) Project for Tribal Farmers was conducted with the active participation of 70 village women. The program focused on enhancing awareness and skills related to integrated and sustainable agricultural practices that can help small and marginal farmers generate higher income from limited land resources.

Anil K. Kotmare, General Manager (OIC), NABARD Tripura Regional Office, graced the occasion as the chief guest. He was accompanied by B Thyagarajan, Assistant General Manager, NABARD; Debashis Majumder, President, YVK; Pinku Das, Trustee, YVK; Pratima Debbarma, Birju Debbarma, Jharna Debbarma and Majesh Debbarma.

During the session, the dignitaries emphasized the importance of the IFS project in promoting self-reliance among tribal farmers and women. The discussion highlighted practical models and field-level experiences demonstrating how smallholders can improve productivity and profitability by integrating crops, livestock, fisheries, and other enterprises.

The participants also had the opportunity to interact with NABARD officials and NGO representatives, sharing their experiences and expectations. The villagers expressed happiness and gratitude for such initiatives that aim to uplift the rural tribal community and strengthen their economic independence.

Yuva Vikash Kendra, with the continuous support of NABARD, has been actively working in Madhav Bari ADC Village to empower tribal farmers and women through training, capacity building, and sustainable livelihood projects.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks, reaffirming the joint commitment of NABARD and Yuva Vikash Kendra toward rural development and tribal welfare in Tripura.
