West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today urged students, youth, and party workers to intensify the struggle for empowerment and development in the state, as the Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) marks its foundation day.

In a message marking the historic foundation day of the Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad (TMCP), Banerjee , the supremo of Trinamool Congress greeted both new and veteran TMCP members, appealed them to stand firm in their fight for the honour, dignity, and progress of Bengal. She described the student wing as an inseparable part of the party and urged students to uphold integrity, saying, “Never compromise with wrongdoing. Always keep your head held high.”
Reaffirming her support, the Chief Minister said she stands with the youth in their ongoing efforts for the welfare of the state.
A massive rally is set to take place today at Mayo Road in Esplanade, with Mamata Banerjee and TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee slated to address the gathering. Thousands of students from across the state are expected to attend.
In a separate message, Abhishek Banerjee said, “We acknowledge the enduring role of Bengal’s youth in leading movements for change, progress and social justice.” He said the TMCP has remained a platform that empowers young minds to raise their voices, pursue their aspirations and contribute to a brighter tomorrow.
“I convey my sincere gratitude to every member for their steadfast commitment and urge all to carry forward this legacy with renewed resolve and dedication, “Joy Bangla, the TMC general secretary said.He also paid tribute to the courage, conviction, and commitment of Bengal’s youth, who have consistently been at the forefront of transformative change.
However, celebrations were marred by discontent after Calcutta University declined the TMCP’s request to reschedule today’s semester exams. The TMCP student wing had appealed the varsity authorities for the postponement of the fourth-semester B.Com and B.A. LLB examinations, which are scheduled between 2 pm and 5 pm overlapping with the rally.
The varsity authorities requested the city Police Commissioner and the Director General of Police and Inspector General of police to ensure safety and security for the students appearing for examinations
