Five officers of Bombay Municipal Corporation and Mumbai police sustained injuries during a demolition drive in powai area of city suburb on Thursday.
According to reports, stones were pelted at police and BMC officials during a demolition drive of illegal structures in the area.
The protestors were seen holding the flag of a political party shouting slogans and throwing stones at civic and police persons, official sources said.
The sudden attack by locals on cops and BMC officials left a total of 5 officers injured who are now being treated in a local government hospital.
Heavy police deployment was done in the area immediately after the incident.
