Teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) today recovered one more body from the site of yesterday’s cloud burst that triggered a flash flood killing at least two persons and leading to the disappearance of at least five others.
Kangra district additional superintendent of police Aditi Singh told UNI that a third body was recovered today by the NDRF team taking the number of deaths to three in the flash flood. She said NDRF and SDRF were looking for five people missing since yesterday.
She said that another person who had gone in the nearby forest to save himself was also traced out safely by the NDRF today.
The ASP said the flash flood water has gone up to the Pong dam, nearly 70 km from the site of the accident. “If the five missing people are not traced here, then we will have to search them out from the Pong dam,” she said.
Deputy Commissioner Kangra Haim Raj Bairwa denied that more people were missing.
Dharamshala BJP MLA Sudhir Sharma said the number of the missing people was far higher and attributed the accident to negligence.
