Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral meetings with Australian PM Anthony Albanese and Japanese PM Fumio Kishida on the sidelines of the Quad Leaders’ Summit in Delaware.
On his meeting with Australian PM Albanese, PM Modi said India and Australia seek to add even more momentum to cooperation in trade, security, space and culture. On his talks with his Japanese counterpart, PM Modi said they discussed cooperation in infrastructure, semiconductors, defence, green energy and more.
In posts on X, PM Modi said:
“Held extensive discussions with PM Albanese. We seek to add even more momentum in areas like trade, security, space and culture. India greatly cherishes the time-tested friendship with Australia.”
The Australian PM said on X: “Great to talk with Prime Minister @narendramodi today at the Quad Leaders Summit about ways to strengthen our partnership.”
The meeting between PM Modi and Anthony Albanese was their ninth in-person interaction since May 2022.
The two leaders discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation across a wide range of areas such as political and strategic, defence and security, trade and investments, education and research, climate change and renewable energy, and people-to-people ties. The Prime Ministers also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest. They acknowledged that the frequency of high-level contacts has imparted a strong momentum to bilateral relations, a statement said.
Both leaders renewed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in the multilateral fora and reiterated their commitment to take the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to even greater heights.
On his meeting with PM Kishida, PM Modi said on X:
“Had a very good meeting with PM Kishida. Discussed cooperation in infrastructure, semiconductors, defence, green energy and more. Strong India-Japan ties are great for global prosperity.”
The two Prime Ministers warmly recalled their many interactions, especially since their first Annual Summit in March 2022. Prime Minister thanked Prime Minister Kishida for his unwavering dedication and leadership in enabling advances in the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership over the last few years, a statement said.
The two leaders noted that the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership is in its 10th year and expressed satisfaction at the progress made in the relationship. The two Prime Ministers reviewed the multi-faceted relationship between the two countries and exchanged views to deepen cooperation further, including defense and security ties and B2B and P2P collaborations.
Prime Minister bid farewell to Prime Minister Kishida and wished him success and fulfillment in his future endeavours.
