Seven labourers killed, 5 seriously injured as truck collides with autorickshaw in Bihar

At least seven labourers were killed on the spot and five others seriously injured when the autorickshaw in which they were travelling collided with a speeding truck near Dhanichak turning on Masaudhi Nabatpur road under Masaudhi police station area in Patna district late on Sunday night.

Police said here on Monday that 12 labourers were returning to their home in an autorickshaw which was hit by a speeding truck coming from the opposite side.

The impact of the collision was such as both of the vehicles fell into a roadside water-filled ditch. The bodies of the deceased were later retrieved.

The deceased were identified as Umesh Bind (38), Vinay bind (31), Ramesh bind (50), Matendra (25) and Umesh bind (30), Suraj Thakur (30) and the autorickshaw driver Sushil Kumar (35) .

The injured were admitted at AIIMS Patna in serious condition.

The bodies were sent for postmortem.

According to Marhaurhi police station SHO Vijay Yadvendu, prima facie, the accident took place when the driver of the truck lost control of his vehicle after its axle broke.

Meanwhile Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed deep sorrow over the death of 7 labourers. In his condolence message, Kumar termed the accident as unfortunate and prayed the Almighty to give courage to the bereaved families to bear the loss.
