Shettar ridicules BL Santhosh, says BJP is sinking in Karnataka

Date:

Ridiculing BJP General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santhosh and advising him to keep his MLAs together, former Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar on Friday said that the BJP is a sinking ship in the state.

This warning comes a day after BJP Spokesperson MG Mahesh quoted Santhosh claimed that about 45 Congress leaders are in touch with him and clarified that none of the BJP MLAs are leaving the party.

Reacting to this, Shettar, who is now a Congress MLC, said that there is no reason why the Congress MLAs would desert the party since it has a very strong and stable government.

“I would advise them to first retain BJP MLAs including former legislators. BJP is fighting for survival in the state. Who will leave Congress when the government has got a solid majority? Let them do some operation, let him take away the MLAs tomorrow itself, let’s see,” he said.

Replying to a query, Shettar said the BJP has lost its plot after Santhosh began to chair the meeting in the absence of Leader of Opposition in the Assembly and State Party President.

He said the Karnataka BJP is in the hands of few leaders, and until the party does not get rid of them, it will keep climbing down undetered.

Asked whether BJP has approached him to rejoin the party, Shettar said neither his former party nor he contacted them
