Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M.K. Stalin turned 72 on Saturday.
As usual it was a low key birthday fete as he began the day by offering floral tributes to a portrait
of his father and late Chief Minister and DMK Patriarch M Karunanidhi.
Later, accompanied by Ministers and senior party leaders, MPs and MLAs, he paid floral tributes
at the memorials of DMK Founder and former CM C N Annadurai (popularly called as Perarignar Anna) and Mr Karunanidhi at the Marina beach front where he took a pledge to fight against
Centre’s attempts to impose Hindi in Tamil Nadu and the 3-language formula.
He also visited the Periyar Thidal and paid floral tributes at the memorial of social reformer Periyar
E V Ramasamy.
Later, he visited late Mr Karunanidhi’s Gopalapuram residence and got the blessings of his mother Dayalu Ammal. He also visited his sister and Lok Sabha MP Kanimozhi’s CIT colony residence and got the blessings from Ms Rajathi Ammal.
Mr Stalin then drove down to DMK Headquarters Anna Arivalayam, where he cut a cake in the presence of Ministers and party functionaries and workers and celebrated his birthday.
He also accepted greetings and wishes from party leaders and cadres.
Mr Stalin also administered a pledge to Ministers, MPs, MLAs, local body representatives, district functionaries and cadres.
The pledge titled “Only goal” was not to compromise in protecting to protect the welfare of Tamil
Nadu and its future, always oppose Hindi imposition and fight unitedly for securing the State’s
rights.
He said “Tamil Nadu will fight…Tamil Nadu will win”.
Earlier, talking to reporters in front of the Gopalapuram residence, Mr Stalin said his commitment
to protecting the state’s autonomy and the two-language policy was his birthday message.
Mr Stalin also launched an enrollment drive in government schools to mark the occasion.
President Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi,
Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi, Congress and INDIA bloc leader Rahul Gandhi, leaders of DMK alliance parties, PMK Founder Dr.S.Ramadoss, PMK President and Rajya Sabha MP Dr Anbumani Ramadoss, besides actor Rajinikanth, among others greeted him on the occasion of his birthday.
In her wishes, Ms Droupadi Murmu said “I covey my best wishes on your birthday”.
“May God bless you with good health and happiness and many more years of continued and dedicated service to the nation”, she said in her greetings letter to Mr Stalin.
In his greetings, Mr Jagdeep Dhankar said “Warm greetings and good wishes on your birthday today”.
“May God bless you with a happy, healthy and long fruitful life dedicated to the service of the
nation”, the Vice-President in a letter to Mr Stalin.
In his wishes, Mr Modi said “Birthday greetings to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. Wishing
him a long and healthy life.”
Mr Ravi, in his greetings, wished Mr Stalin “good health, happiness, and success in serving the people of Tamil Nadu.”
Mr Rahul Gandhi, in a post on X, extended his birthday greetings to Mr Stalin and pledged to stand together in their commitment to preserve India’s rich diversity, federal structure and Constitutional values.
“Wishing a very happy birthday to my brother and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Thiru M.K. Stalin”, he said.
“We continue to stand together in our commitment to preserve India’s rich diversity, federal structure, and Constitutional values”, Mr Rahul Gandhi said.
“May you have good health and continued success in serving the people of Tamil Nadu”, he added.
On the occasion of CM Stalin’s birthday, the DMK organized various events across Tamil Nadu.
Enthusiastic party cadres and supporters celebrated the occasion by organising welfare initiatives and public programs.
