Warangal to be developed on par with Hyderabad: Telangana CM

Date:

Telangana Chief Minister Enumula Revanth Reddy announced ambitious plans to develop Warangal on par with Hyderabad, aiming to transform the historic city into a hub of progress and bring about a significant change in the face of North Telangana.

He made these announcements while addressing the Indira Mahila Shakti Vijayotsavam held at the Hanumakonda Arts College grounds on Tuesday evening. The event was organised to mark the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

The Chief Minister began the event by garlanding a portrait of Indira Gandhi and paying tribute to her legacy.

He dedicated the program to the empowerment of women, reiterating his government’s resolve to make them leaders and entrepreneurs.

Emphasising the significance of Warangal, Revanth Reddy said nearly Rs 6,000 crore had been allocated for the city’s development. He announced the completion of the long-pending Kaloji Kala Kshetra, a cultural landmark, and outlined plans for an airport at Mamunur to enhance connectivity and spur economic growth.

Additionally, the Chief Minister revealed plans to establish industrial zones, creating new employment opportunities for the region’s youth.

During his speech, Revanth Reddy highlighted several initiatives aimed at women’s empowerment. These include providing free bus travel, subsidised gas cylinders at Rs 500, and support for self-reliant women through solar power projects and entrepreneurship programs. Financial aid and bank linkage loans were distributed to women’s groups as part of the event, further showcasing the government’s commitment to gender equality.

The Chief Minister also underscored the strides made in agricultural and rural development. His government has waived Rs 18,000 crore in loans for 22 lakh farmers and facilitated record-breaking paddy production of 1.53 crore tonnes from 65 lakh acres. Revanth Reddy assured that all remaining agricultural loans would also be waived, fulfilling his government’s promises to the farming community.

Revanth Reddy emphasised the cultural and historical importance of Warangal, which was once the capital of the Kakatiya dynasty and is home to architectural marvels like the Thousand Pillar Temple and Ramappa Temple.

He vowed to preserve the city’s heritage while ensuring it becomes a modern and self-reliant urban center. He also stressed the need for better infrastructure, such as solar power projects and decentralised airport facilities in other parts of Telangana, including Kothagudem, Adilabad, and Ramagundam.

As part of the event, the Chief Minister distributed cheques to women’s groups and reiterated his government’s resolve to work tirelessly for Warangal’s progress. He assured the citizens that his government would honour all its commitments, making Warangal a model of development and a symbol of pride for Telangana.
