Agartala, July 20, 2022: Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Wednesday said that the state government has taken initiatives to bring every child of the state to the sports field and good health can be maintained through sports.
While inaugurating the sports goods distribution programme at Udaipur Town Hall on Wednesday, Singha Roy emphasized on regular exercise and said that the present government of the state has taken special initiative to develop modern sports infrastructure in the state.
Speaking in the distribution ceremony, the Youth Affairs and Sports minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that the country’s unity, national solidarity and sense of solidarity are developed through sports. The state government is working on infrastructural development for the overall progress of the players. One of the goals of the state government is to raise players from the village level to the national level.
He said that 35 coaching centers of Gomati district are being given sports equipment for various sports by spending about Rs 14 lakh. Initiatives have already been taken to recruit 100 Physical Instructors (PIs). Five to seven more synthetic football grounds will be constructed in the state to improve the quality of football. An initiative has been taken to give Rs 20,000 to about 1500 clubs in the state for purchasing sports equipment. He expressed hope that drug free Tripura will be developed through sports.
In the event, Sports minister Chowdhury handed over sports equipment to the physical teacher in charge of Kakraban Higher Secondary School.
MLA Biplab Kumar Ghosh, Udaipur Municipal Council chairperson Shital Chandra Majumdar and others also spoke on the occasion. The event was presided over by Gomati Zilla Parishad Sahakari Sabhadipati Debal Debray. MLA Ranjit Das, Matabari Panchayat Samiti Chairman Sujan Kumar Sen, Tepania Panchayat Samiti Jharna Rani Das, Gomati District Additional District Magistrate, Sports and Youth Affairs Director Sabikash Debbarma, social worker Abhishek Debray and Prabir Das among others were present on the occasion. It should be noted that in today’s event, sports materials for football, volleyball, kho kho, athletics, kabaddi etc. were distributed among 35 coaching centers of Gomati district. The artists of Udaipur Sanskritik Mancha performed the opening music in today’s event.
