An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale hit Indonesia’s West Sumatra province on Monday.
However the meteorology, climatology and geophysics agency that confirmed the quake did not issue any tsunami warning.
The quake hit at 10.29 am local time with epicenter at 116 km northwest of Kepulauan Mentawai (Mentawai islands) district at 10 km under the seabed, the agency said.
The tremors did not have the potential to trigger a tsunami, it added.
A 5.9-magnitude quake earlier hit at 5.34 am around the same epicenter.
