High-intensity blast kills one, injures another in West Bengal

A high-intensity explosions killed one person and wounded another while some miscreants were manufacturing crude bombs in an abandoned house in West Bengal’s East Bardhaman, police said today.

The body of the deceased was beyond recognition in the impact of the blast, which occurred around 8:30 pm yesterday at Rajoa village in Katwa subdivision, police and eye witnesses said. They said the blast

flattened the roof-top of asbestos killing the man on the spot.

The injured, who was identified as Toofan Chowdhury, was caught by the villagers and handed over to the police. He was taken to the Katwa Mohokuma hospital with multiple wounds. The deceased was also taken to the same hospital for a postmortem.The villagers could not identify the deceased. Eyewitnesses said they could hear the blasts twice, which rocked the neighbourhood in the quiet of the village.

Police believe that the miscreants were manufacturing crude bombs, but began investigating the purpose of storing explosives and who were behind in the criminal act.
