Case filed against Jitendra Tiwari & his wife in connection with death of three people in Asansol

Date:

A case has been filed against BJP leader Jitendra Tiwari and his wife Chaitali Tiwari in connection with the death of three people in a stampede during a blanket distribution event at Ramakrishna Danga on Wednesday in Asansol in Paschim Bardhaman district of West Bengal, police said on Friday.

Jitendra Tiwari and his wife Chaitali Tiwari along with the organizers were accused by Sukhen Bauri, son of Jhali Bauri, a resident of Asansol Kalla, who died in the stampede.

On the basis of that complaint, the Asansol North police station registered a case of involuntary murder. Several other BJP leaders are also named in the case.

Police have already arrested 5 people in this connection.

Meanwhile, regarding the filing of a case against Jitendra Tiwari and Chaitali Tiwari, BJP state president Sukant Majumdar said that the case was filed with political motives.

He claimed that the required police system was not maintained during the blanket distribution ceremony. The complaint was filed with political motives.

However, the police alleged that no police permission was taken for the blanket distribution event. There was no idea how crowded it would be.

Shivacharcha and blanket distribution program were organized at Ramakrishna Danga ground in Asansol. The organizer was Chaitali Tiwari, wife of former mayor of Asansol and BJP leader Jitendra Tiwari.

Subhendu Adhikari was the chief guest at the blanket distribution event. However, Shubhendu went down from the stage after distributing 3-4 blankets. It is known that not only for the distribution of blankets, but also to listen and watch Shivacharcha, women appeared in the field.

At least 8,000 people gathered. On the other hand, Police Commissioner Sudhir Kumar said that

no permission was taken from the police. They did not know that there would be such a crowd of women.

Although Jitendra Tiwari claimed, his wife Chaitali Tiwari gave a written letter to the local police station. But according to police sources, the letter did not mention the number of people. It was only written about the distribution of mega blankets and the program of Shivcharcha. There was no mention of Subhendu coming there either.

On the other hand, the state approached the Calcutta High Court seeking permission to file an FIR against Subhendu Adhikari in this incident. After the Supreme Court’s order, the Calcutta High Court drew the attention of the state.

Asansol police wanted the custody of the arrested BJP leaders.
