Agartala: December 16. Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma on Friday has said that Swachh Bharat has now become a social movement.
While attending a cleanliness drive in Agartala, DyCM Dev Varma said under the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Swachh Bharat has become a social movement and not a programme now.
“If you visit other states or cities, are now very much clean than earlier days. When PM Modi has announced Swachh Bharat, many people have raised questions. But now Swachh Bharat is a movement. PM Modi has shown the country how to do movement with people and society. Before arrival of PM Modi we want to gift him ‘Swachh Agartala”, he said.
Dev Varma who is also finance minister said starting from Ministers, MLAs, leaders, and common people will clean the Agartala to make the city clean.
“This is what our aim is. To make country powerful cleanliness is necessary. If you visit different cities, villages you will find this movement of cleanliness. It is not necessary to use stick but one can do movement with broomstick”, he said.
