Agartala, 8th July 2025: Maharaja Bir Bikram University, in collaboration with the Electronics Test and Development Centre (ETDC), Agartala, organized an awareness seminar titled “Be Safe in Cyberspace” to educate students and staff about cybercrime and digital safety. The initiative was jointly conducted by the university’s NSS Unit and Red Ribbon Club, with support from the Directorate of STQC under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India.
Subhasish Kar, Acting Director of ETDC delivered the keynote address highlighting the growing threat of cybercrime and outlining preventive measures such as using strong passwords, avoiding suspicious links, and updating digital devices regularly. He urged victims to report incidents to the National Cybercrime Helpline (1930) or the Cybercrime Portal.
University Registrar Dr. Sumanta Chakraborty encouraged students to remain alert and play a proactive role in spreading awareness. Vice Chancellor Professor Bibhas Deb emphasized the importance of cyber safety in today’s digital age and commended the NSS Unit and Red Ribbon Club for organizing the event. He also urged them to hold similar programs in schools and colleges in the future.
The program saw participation from over a hundred faculty members, staff, and students. Dr. Debdatta Adak, NSS Program Officer, delivered the vote of thanks.
