Agartala, 10th July 2025:   In a warm gesture of goodwill and diplomacy, Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has sent 300 kilograms of the famed Haribhanga mangoes to the Chief Minister of Tripura, symbolizing the friendly ties between the neighboring nations.

The mangoes—packaged in 60 cartons—were handed over to Indian authorities at the Akhaura Integrated Check Post in Brahmanbaria around 5 PM on Thursday. Revenue Officer of the Customs Department at Akhaura Land Port, Jahangir Alam, confirmed the development and said that the consignment was officially received by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) and customs officials.

“This is a goodwill gift from our government to the people and leadership of Tripura. It reflects the historical, cultural, and diplomatic bonds we share with the Indian state,” said Alam.

The consignment included a special complimentary card and wrapping paper carrying a personal greeting from the Chief Advisor of Bangladesh. The gift will be formally handed over to the Tripura state government through the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala.

The Protocol Division of Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinated the entire process. Officials expressed hope that such humanitarian and symbolic exchanges would continue to bolster ties between Bangladesh and India, especially with bordering states like Tripura that share deep socio-cultural and economic linkages.
