Agartala, 11th July 2025: Students at the Karbook Model English Medium Higher Secondary School in Baidyabari are reportedly struggling to continue classes due to extensive waterlogging within their newly constructed school building. The structure, inaugurated just two months ago, has faced severe leaks during recent heavy rains, leading to water accumulation both inside and outside the premises.
According to school authorities, the persistent flooding has disrupted academic activities and raised safety concerns for students and staff. Teachers and parents have expressed disappointment over the apparent poor quality of construction, questioning the standards followed during the building’s development.
The double-storied facility was sanctioned with a budget of Rs 2.62 crore under the government’s rural development scheme. However, authorities claim only Rs 2.14 crore was spent on construction. The remaining funds were supposed to be utilized for additional infrastructure, including a boundary wall and a bicycle stand neither of which has materialized.
Frustrated by the unfulfilled commitments and deteriorating learning conditions, school officials have approached the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of the Rural Development Department, urging prompt investigation and remedial action.
